You Go, Slavia! or, the case of the Serbian Hasselhoff
Just when I think that I have lived in Europe long enough that my stereotypes of Europeans might have begun to dissipate:

Storytelling with Ira Glass
This may be really inspiring to some of you. It's about the art and difficulty of telling stories (esp. on radio and TV), and doing it from the heart. In four parts, via YouTube, here.

Ira Glass is the popular host of "This American Life" on NPR and Showtime on TV. He says, "In the purest way, it's about luck."

CBC- Chrisdye before cable
When I was very young, I watched altogether too much CBC. Sometimes, I would get up really early to watch it sign on (!) It would begin with this awesomely hokey montage anthem (although I only really remember the last 15 seconds, where the kids cheer the highjumper): http://youtube.com/watch?v=U_vloXL52DI

At about 7AM, there was a 10-minute show called "Parlez-moi", which tried to teach French to kids. But they spoke so fast and introduced so many words at once that I watched hundreds of episodes without learning a word: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vilHNrxUdgs

Conchordia
Flight of the Conchords is wonderful. If you like what you see, invite yourself over to my house on Friday or Sunday at 10:30 to watch an episode of their 12-part series, which is the the best thing on TV these days.
