Comments Update
Due to the large number of spam comments coming through on this blog, I've changed the way that comments work:

Comments from unknown sources will now wait in moderation until they are manually approved.

This may delay some comments appearing for some time, between when they are posted and approved. But it should eliminate the spam comments appearing.

If you comment when logged into a vorg account, your comments will be automatically approved.

Dropbox
Ok, they win some word of mouth.

I signed up for the Dropbox beta ages ago and got my invite today.

I really like the idea and the implementation is pretty slick. If anyone wants to try it out, I have 10 invites.

Human Error
How Spammers Are Defeating Spam Filters

This is ingenious. Sillytech should keep their eye out for this new tactic, after all, I'm only human...heyo!

PS Captcha = Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart. How awesome is that?

My Freakin' Pride!
I tried to respond to Andrew's post below several times, to offer an explanation before GBrowdy could show off. Alas! Sillytech thought I was spam! Even though I was logged in.

So I will offer you more auditory illusions thanks to the awesome Al Bregman AND another way cool video demonstrating the properties of sound using salt.

I will also remind Andrew- and any other readers who may or may not be named Gil- that he called me the better linguist. That's right... I'm the pettier better linguist!

My new high tech spam filter
A few days ago I installed a new spam filter on my mailbox, consisting of masking tape and my childish scrawl:

spam filter

It wasn't just the amount of junk mail that I was getting (it was quite a lot) that brought me to do it. The fact was, absolutely none of the fliers that came interested me at all. I was spoiled at Summerhill, since my vivacious roommate Nikki would usually get the mail, and filter it for us. In the absence of that, I'm willing to abandon the odd subway coupon to avoid the hassle of sorting out junk mail every day.
