MP introduces private bill to eliminate the penny

Private member's bills are bologna. Whether or not it's a good idea to get rid of the penny, I think we can all agree that it's an even better idea not to let our crazy local MPs write their own laws.

(In my studies of law and politics, I have only come across two private member's bills in the history of Canada that became law: one in 1964 to change the name of "Trans-Canada Airlines" to Air Canada, and one in 1985 to ban smoking on flights shorter than two hours.)

How many ideas brought forth in private members' bills later became law?

Or should I put this is in question answerer thread? I'd prefer a snarky answer, if possible.
